Phosphoric acid (PA) is an essential industrial chemical heavily applied in the fertilizer industry, metallurgical industry, and the food and beverage industry. Our Ceramic Membrane Technology

The Acid Filtration Process

The primary aim of our acid purification system is to remove particles from the acid to deliver a pure acid of premium quality living up to MGA requirements. The LiqTech acid purification system provides high-quality purified acid without using chemicals in the purification process.

The feed passes through the ceramic membranes by feed pumps. The filtration operates continuously, delivering the feed as permeate to permeate tanks. The remaining retentate is bled to posttreatment dewatering, such as a filter press.

To avoid membrane fouling, the systems regularly clean the membranes. In regular intervals, the filtration skids perform system backwashes. This is a cleaning action where the filtration is reversed, pushing permeate back through the membranes and thereby flushing the pores.

From time to time, the membranes need to be chemically cleaned. This is done preemptively to avoid irreversible fouling. The process is called Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) and can either be conducted with neutral technical water or alkaline. The CIP chemicals are injected into a single filtration skid at a time, taking it offline for the duration. The spend CIP solution is transferred for handling.
